'Wick Wins FAA Hoops Showdown

An FAA showdown between Brunswick and Hamden Hall went down to the wire on Friday afternoon, with the Bruins emerging victorious, 72-69.

Brunswick trailed 69-68 with 17 seconds left in regulation. Coming out of a timeout with the ball at half court, the Bruins entered to Wyatt Triestman at the elbow. Triestman attacked the basket and missed a floater, but was able to put back his own miss for the go-ahead score. With six seconds remaining, Brunswick came up with a timely steal, and Triestman iced the game with two free throws after a Hornets foul.

It was a team effort from Brunswick, which played with a renewed sense of urgency with the last week of the regular season looming. A gritty Hamden Hall team shot the lights out and hung tough the whole way, but it was the Bruins who ultimately persevered when the game hung in the balance.

Triestman led the way with 21 points, while Brunswick also received major offensive contributions from Ethan Long with 20 and Jon Sigurdsson, who added 19.

Brunswick will honor its seniors on Monday at home vs. St. Luke’s.
