Wrestling Team Wins Big at Taft

Brunswick (11-2) notched three more wins against WNEISWA opponents in a quad meet at Taft on Saturday.

 

In the first dual meet versus Hotchkiss, Brunswick got wins by pin from Jack Degl '25 (18-2), Carlo Tucci '26 (13-2), Eric Lonnegren '23 (8-2), Tomas Delgado '23 (11-4), Christian Yanoti '25 (11-5), Silas Corveddu '27 (6-0), Quinn McGraw '26 (13-3), Enzo Vera '23 (17-3), and Alex Harned '26 (11-2). After giving up the first take-down, Michael Accetta '24 (17-2) grinded his way back to earn a 7-2 decision. At 215 lb., Michael Marini '26 (13-8) showed his skills on the mat, earning a 2-1 decision. Final score: 

 

 

In the next dual meet versus Taft, Brunswick led 12-0 after a pin by co-captain William MacGillivray '23 (14-4) at 165 lb. The Rhinos were able to get as close as 18-15 after a win at 285 lb. before Brunswick rattled off eight straight wins from 106 lb. to 150 lb. highlighted by Harned's come-from-behind overtime 9-7 win at 144 lb. Brunswick hosts its own invitational tournament on Saturday, January 21 with wrestling beginning at 9:30AM in Burke Fieldhouse.
