Brunswick earned its seventh straight victory with a 20-16 win against Avon Old Farms School on Senior Night at Cosby Field on Saturday.
After the Winged Beavers returned a kickoff for a 94-yard touchdown halfway through the third quarter — taking a 16-13 lead — Brunswick went to work on offense, as junior QB Elijah Cromartie hit WRs and seniors Riley Gilsenan, Jason Agudelo, and Tomas Delgado with key passes to set up junior RB Bryce Davis’ go-ahead touchdown run. It was Davis’ third score of the night.
The Brunswick defense held AOF at bay in the final 7:56, which was played in front of a big crowd on Edwards Campus.
Prior to the game, Brunswick paid tribute to its 25 seniors.
“They are phenomenal — they are the heartbeat of Brunswick football,” Head Coach Wayne McGillicuddy said.
“All 25 of them are phenomenal leaders and I’m so lucky to coach such a great group of guys.”
Brunswick (7-1) will head up Route 22 to take on Trinity-Pawling on Friday night in its final game of the regular season.
