The Bruins successfully capped a 20-2 season with a double-digit win over host Avon Old Farms Saturday at Farmington Woods GC, avenging a 2-stroke loss earlier this month to the Winged Beavers in the New England Prep Championship.
Playing some of their most consistent, controlled target golf of the spring, 'Wick masterfully negotiated the tight, tricky Farmington layout with a five-score aggregate of 191, averaging 38.2 strokes per player in besting Avon by eleven shots. Led by co-medalist Sam O'Hara's even-par 36, and followed by co-captain Owen Hayes and sophomore Christian Close with 37 each, 'Wick rounded out its balanced scoring with a 40 by soph Andrew Stickel and classmate Harry Bonomo's 41.
'Wick's road warriors played eleven of their thirteen competitive dates away from their home courses this spring, and now look forward to a bright 2022, as the squad's seven sophomores and two juniors lose only co-captain Alex Rohlf to graduation.
