After a total of 644 shots were struck by the two teams, only a pair of strokes separated Avon Old Farms from 'Wick as the Bruins suffered their first loss of the season, finishing second in the Western New England Prep Golf Championship, which was contested in chilly, rainy conditions at the Club at River Oaks in Sherman, Conn.
The Winged Beavers' four-score aggregate of 321 bested the Bruins' 323. A quartet of Brunswick sophomores was led by tournament medalist Sam O'Hara's six-over-par 77, followed by Andrew Stickel with 81, Christian Close (82), and Henry Devaney (83).
