Website Security Update

If using IE10 on a Windows 7 machine, the latest browser may not fix the security issue. Follow these steps to update your browser's security settings:

• Open Internet Explorer and click Tools, then Internet Options.
• Select the Advanced tab and scroll to the bottom.
• Enable both Use TLS 1.1 and Use TLS 1.2 check boxes.
• Click OK or Apply.

To turn on Automatic Updates through Windows Update in Windows 8:

• Open Windows Update by pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up.
• Click Settings, then Change PC settings
• Click Update and recovery
• Click Choose how updates get installed.
• Under Important updates, choose the option that you want.
• Under Recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates check box.
• Click Apply.

To update your Safari browser, follow these steps:

• Click the Apple logo  on the top left of your screen.
• Click Software Update.
• Select UPDATE under Software Update in the Mac App Store.

If this does not work, then the version of Safari you have is most likely not supported.  Please try a different browser (Chrome or Firefox).

To update your Chrome browser, follow these steps:

• In the top right of your browser window, click the Chrome menu .
• Click Update Google Chrome.
• Click Relaunch.

To update your Firefox browser, follow these steps:

• On the menu bar click the Firefox menu and select About Firefox.
• The About Firefox window will open and Firefox will begin checking for updates and downloading them automatically.
• When the updates are ready to be installed, click Restart Firefox to Update.

A security update has been made to the Brunswick School website in response to a change made to the PCI DSS Standard (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, a proprietary information security standard for organizations that handle branded credit cards from the major card schemes including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB).

In order to provide the strongest encryption and best security, this update disables support of the TLS 1.0 protocol as it can no longer be used as a security control.

With TLS 1.0 is disabled on the website, some older browsers will no longer have access to password-protected pages of the website (see list below).

Incompatible browsers include:

• Chrome v21 and prior on all OS
• Stock Android Browser v4.3 and prior
• Firefox prior to v23 on all OS
• Internet Explorer v9 and prior on Windows Vista (Server 2008) and prior
• Mobile Internet Explorer v9 and prior
• Opera v7 and prior
• Safari v6 and prior
• Safari Mobile v5 and prior

TLS 1.1 and 1.2 can be enabled on the following browsers but is disabled by default: 

• Internet Explorer v8-10 on Windows 7
• Stock Android Browser v4.4-v4.4.4 (all Kit Kat)
• Firefox v23-26
• Mobile Internet Explorer v10
• Opera v8
• Opera v10-12.17
