The varsity golf team continues to make a name for itself at both the local and regional levels. Success within the FAA and against New England prep schools against the backdrop of some of the most challenging and historic courses in the area is remarkable. Following a 23-6 finish in 2017, Brunswick holds an impressive match record of 181-26-8 since 2011, including multiple FAA championships, Hotchkiss Invitational titles and Fishers Island Invitational first-place finishes.
Brunswick hosts its own tournament at the Round Hill Club, and play most home matches at the Stanwich Club. In addition to Stanwich, the team practices and plays on a course rotation that includes the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club, Burning Tree CC, Century CC, Fairview CC, the GlenArbor Club, Greenwich CC, Rockrimmon CC, Round Hill Club and Tamarack CC.
Spring break trips have taken the team to Georgia, where the Bruins have practiced and played at the Atlanta Athletic Club, East Lake Golf Club and the Sea Island Club. Other stops included Florida destinations such as TPC at Sawgrass, PGA Village, Bears Club and the Medalist Golf Club.
All Brunswick players, both varsity and JV, are taught course management skills, match and stroke play strategies, as well as sportsmanship, course etiquette and the honor and values inherent in the game of golf. Recent graduates have gone on to play at Division I programs in the Big 10, Ivy League and the Patriot League, along with top Division III programs across the country.
Brunswick wrapped up a historic season with a victory at the Silo Ridge Challenge Cup on Wednesday in Amenia, N.Y. Topping another 10 teams at the event, the Bruins finished the season with an unblemished mark of 48-0.
Brunswick stayed unbeaten on the links, as the Bruins improved their record to 38-0 following a win over Fordham Prep on Tuesday at the Stanwich Club, 207-224. Brunswick wraps up the spring season at the Challenge Cup at Silo Ridge on Wednesday, May 15.
Brunswick won the 2019 Greenwich Invitational, held at the Stanwich Club on Thursday. The Bruins topped Greenwich H.S., St. Luke’s and Fairfield Prep, as Matt Camel was the medalist, shooting a one-over par 73.
Brunswick moved to 18-0 following a decisive 206-224 victory over Hamden Hall on Monday at the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club. The Bruins return to action at the Greenwich Invitational at the Stanwich Club on Thursday, May 2.
Brunswick bested previously unbeaten Taft in a seven-player, 18-hole contest at the Century Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. The Bruins (13-0) won five of seven matches to beat the Rhinos (4-1) on Wednesday.
Brunswick won the 2019 Hotchkiss Invitational on Saturday, as the Bruins shot a tournament-record, five-score aggregate of 182. The title is the first for the Bruins since 2016 and the sixth Hotchkiss Invitational crown for Brunswick.
