Brunswick won the 2019 NEITA-NEPSAC Class A Championship for the first time, beating Groton on the Zebras’ home courts, 4-1. The Bruins, historically a Class B powerhouse, moved into the Class A draw this season.
Brunswick’s decisive 7-0 win over Masters on Tuesday on the Richman Tennis Courts completed a six-match sweep through FAA competition, as the Bruins won the FAA regular season title. It is the fourth-straight FAA crown for the Bruins, as fourth-year head coach Ryan Abraham is 24-0 against league competition.
Brunswick picked up a share of the regular season FAA title following a win over Rye CDS on Monday, 4-3. Overall, the 10-2 Bruins improve to 5-0 in league action with one conference game and one non-league contest remaining before post-season action later this month.
Brunswick won the NEMA George C. Shafer Doubles Invitational hosted by Episcopal Academy in Pennsylvania on Sunday. The Bruins collected 26.5 team points to win the two-day, 14-team tournament, as Sidwell Friends was second with 21.5 points.
Brunswick stayed unbeaten in 2019 following a dominating, 7-0 win over Kent on Saturday. Using a youthful line-up comprised of sophomore and freshmen players, the Bruins (6-0) did not drop a set to the host Lions.
