  • 2021-2022 Annual Fund Update

While your sons are busy settling into their class schedules and adjusting back to the school routine, the Development Office is busy with the kick off of the 2021–2022 Annual Giving year. We already have 100% Trustee and 100% faculty and staff participation in the Annual Fund. An amazing way to start this year’s Annual Fund!

Last year’s Annual Fund raised over $4.75 million and had more than 99% parent participation for the thirteenth year in a row (congratulations and thank you again to those who helped us reach that amazing participation rate last year!). Elliot Newman, father of Will ’25 (in addition to two girls at GA) will once again be taking the lead as our Annual Fund chairman.  We are confident that with Elliot’s continued leadership we will have yet another successful Annual Giving year.

Our annual Phonathon is scheduled for early November. One of our outstanding volunteers will be giving you a call to follow up on the appeal letter you will be receiving in a few weeks.  See below for a list of this year’s class captains.

If you would like to make your contribution early, gifts can be made by credit card, check, online, Venmo, or by transferring stock. If you choose to transfer stock, please contact the Development Office at 203.242.1225 for transfer forms.

Also, please remember that matching gifts significantly enhance your contribution. Click here to determine if your employer participates in a matching gift program. If you have any further questions, please contact Krista Bruce, Director of Annual Giving, at 203.242.1225 or kbruce@brunswickschool.org

Many thanks for all you do to support our School and our boys — every day!

  • Parent Participation

We are thrilled to announce that last year, for the thirteenth year in a row, we achieved 99% current parent participation in the ’Wick Annual Fund! We are all very proud of this impressive accomplishment, and thank you for showing your support by making an Annual Fund gift to Brunswick.

The chart below shows the participation of each grade.  Although this chart only reflects parent giving, all of us at Brunswick deeply appreciate the loyalty and generosity of our parents, alumni, parents of alumni, and friends each year. The chart below the parent participation chart reflects annual giving over the last several years — another testament to the dedication of the extended Brunswick community.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Krista Bruce, Director of Annual Giving, to make your gift today to the 2021–2022 ‘Wick Annual Fund. Again, thank you!

  • CARES Act Charitable Deduction Changes

With the recent passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, two important changes were made to the tax code impacting charitable deductions for 2020.

    1. For taxpayers who take the standard deduction, you may now take an above-the-line deduction of up to $300. This deduction does not apply to contributions to a Donor Advised Fund.

    2. For taxpayers who itemize their deductions, the CARES Act suspends (for 2020) the limitation on your deduction amount for charitable cash contributions. The limitation was previously set at 60% of your adjusted gross income (AGI). Again, this suspension does not apply to contributions to Donor Advised Funds.

As always, we encourage you to consult with your tax advisor for more information.
