Seniors Merit National Recognition for Scholarship
Eight Brunswick seniors were announced on Wednesday, Sept. 12, as semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program, joining 16,000 other students nationwide.
The group of semifinalists — Nicolas Apostolides, Connor Belcastro, Charlie Ciporin, Will Frauen, Christian Hartch, Tallon Hodge, Ben Israel, and Cole Pierce — all entered by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
All semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.
“We are thrilled with the well-deserved recognition of these fine young scholars,” Headmaster Thomas W. Philip said.
“They all pursue their academic endeavors with dedication, intelligence, and curiosity — and they are also active and engaged members of our school community, both in and out of the classroom.”
