'Wick Students Take Leadership Roles at Model UN

Brunswick Upper School students participated in Fordham University’s Model United Nations Conference on its Lincoln Center Campus in New York on April 21–22.

Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, or other multilateral body, which introduces students to the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making.

’Wick students assumed leadership roles within the United Nations for countries such as the United States, Germany, and the Central African Republic — while also representing companies like Amazon, Tesla, and Altaba in debate and discussion.

Climate change, African politics, international security, and cybersecurity were among the issues debated on the floor throughout the two-day event.

For their committee performances, Nick Wolanski ’20 and Josh Sherman ’21 received Honorable Mention; Nikhil Jaiswal ’20 and Jackson Dapuzzo ’21 won Outstanding Delegate; and Wesley Peisch ’18 was named Best Delegate.
