Students Join in Worldwide 'Hour of Code'

The Hour of Code, one of the largest single-day education events in the world, gave students and teachers at Brunswick the opportunity to join millions around the globe in completing an hour of coding activities.

Promoted by Seattle-based non-profit Code.org, the Hour of Code is a one-hour introductory course designed to demystify computer science and show that anybody can learn the basics of computer programming.

Code.org and other organizations created materials for participants to use during the National Computer Science Week, all simple, easy-to-follow lessons specific to grade level and student friendly.

At Brunswick, boys across all divisions spent time throughout the week trying their hand at coding, strengthening their computational skills using a variety of programming exercises. They discussed introductory algorithms, cryptography, information theory, and problem solving techniques, working collaboratively to complete engaging challenges.
