Soccer Falls to Hotchkiss in Home Finale

Hotchkiss scored the lone goal in the 63rd minute of play, topping Brunswick on Caputo Field on Wednesday, 1-0. The loss pushes the Bruins's record to 7-8-1, as the squad has one final game at Westminster on Saturday, November 11.

In a balanced first half, both teams had quality scoring chances. Brunswick goalie Harry Barringer left his goal on a few occasions to turn away crossing passes and through balls.

In the second half of the scoreless contest, Brunswick nearly took the lead at the 50th minute, as a rebound off a Bruins’ shot was redirected on goal, but the rebound shot bounced off the far post.

Hotchkiss netted the decisive goal following a Brunswick turnover near midfield. The Bearcats strung together a series of nice passes in front of the Bruins’ 18, as a Hotchkiss midfielder scored with a smart, top-right shot from 25 yards out.

Barringer made five saves over 70 minutes, as Eric Meindl jumped in net, allowing Barringer to push up to striker to add an attacking spark.  Meindl made one save for his time between the pipes.
