Brunswick Competes at 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta

Brunswick brought three boats to Boston’s world-famous Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday. The Bruins raced in the single, double, and varsity eight competition.

Christian Ruf was Brunswick’s highest finisher, earning a sixth-place result in the Men’s Youth Singles. Ruf’s time of 18:59.474 was just three seconds off a third-place finish against 30 other racers.

In the Men’s Youth Doubles, the tandem of Ben Shore and Christopher Bass finished in 25th place in the 48-boat field. Competing against numerous sculling-oriented club boats, the duo's finishing time trailed only three other scholastic boats.

In the always entertaining Men’s Youth Eights, 84 boats navigated the winding Charles River, as Brunswick crossed the line with a time of 15:21.697, good for 31st position. The result qualified the Bruins for a return trip to the Head of the Charles in 2018.

Coxswain Diego Jasson steered an excellent course in only his third race behind the wheel. The Youth Eight lineup included bow Jack Altman, 2 seat Will Gregory, 3 seat Hank Michalik, 4 seat Matthew Jacobson, 5 seat Jack Mozingo, 6 seat Scott Gibbons, 7 seat Austin Sammons, stroke David Sorbaro, and coxswain Diego Jasson.
