Following a full sweep of six FAA teams on Wednesday, Brunswick’s league winning streak in cross country hit 75. The streak matches the second longest run of wins in recent history, as the Bruins hold a team mark of 97 FAA wins dating back more than two decades.
At the event, held at Sherwood Island State Park, Brunswick outdistanced Greens Farms (15-47), King (15-49), RCDS (15-46), St. Luke’s (17-46), and Masters (19-44), while narrowly defeating Hopkins (27-29).
Brunswick placed four runners in the top 12, as Wes Peisch led the Bruins with a second-place finish, crossing the line in 16:07. Fellow Bruins Andres Jasson (18:18.5) and Kyle Raker (18:21.6) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The next three finishers for Brunswick were Jack Driscoll (9th), Chris Ramos (11th), and Charlie Garland (12th).
Despite Hopkins having four racers in the top-10, including the race-winner and the third-place finisher, Brunswick’s last-mile racing tactics secured the team win. Over the final mile, Peisch and Driscoll used strong moves to help the Bruins to the narrow, two-point win against their FAA rivals.
