Four First Half Goals Propel Soccer to Victory

Brunswick broke an early 1-1 tie against Trinity-Pawling with a trio of first half goals, rolling to a 5-1 road victory on Wednesday. Nick Boardman led the Bruins (4-4-1), winners of four straight contests, with three goals.

Boardman opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finishing off a pass from Ryan Chinai. Boardman bested the Pride keeper on a tight-angle shot.

Trinity-Pawling countered with the equalizer in the 14th minute before the Bruins started their decisive three-goal run.

In the next six minutes, Boardman bookended goals around a Henry Foster tally to give the Bruins a commanding 4-1 lead.

In the 17th minute, Boardman sliced through the Pride defense for a goal. Two minutes later, Foster blasted a shot following a nice feed from Boardman. In the 22nd minute, Boardman completed the hat-trick with Foster returning the favor on a give-and-go tally.

Chinai extended the Brunswick lead to 5-1 early in the second half by finishing off his own rebound in the 49th minute. Ahead of the final goal of the game, Ben Israel played a nice ball to teammate Will McKinnon wide to the right, who one-timed a cross to Chinai for the initial shot and rebound goal.

Brunswick goalie Harry Barringer played the opening 70 minutes, making three first half saves. Eric Meindl replaced Barringer for the final 20 minutes and played smartly, defensing a pair of crossing shots near the Brunswick net and stopping a T-P breakaway.

The Bruins have a week off before their next contest at Salisbury on Wednesday, October 18.
