Brunswick sent several boats to Indian Wells State Park on Saturday, racing in the 2.7-mile Head of the Housatonic Regatta. Two Varsity Eight entries finished eighth and 16th, respectively, out of 24 boats, while a Brunswick Novice boat took second place in a separate race.
The eighth-place finish by the Varsity Eight boat ensures an automatic qualification for next year’s Housatonic Regatta. The Bruins finished the course in 13:28.6, less than a second behind the seventh-place team from New Canaan.
The silver-medalist Novice Eight A boat (15:24) finished eight seconds off the winning pace, while the Bruins’ Novice B posted the quickest time against all other B-teams on the day.
Brunswick’s younger racers head to the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia on October 29, while the veteran racers plan to take part in the Head of the Charles Regatta on October 22.
