Lower School Head Katie Signer united the oldest and youngest members of the Lower School community through the longstanding tradition of the Big Brother program on Friday, September 15.
In the program, each first-grade boy is assigned a fourth-grade Big Brother, responsible to look out for him during the course of the year. A specific roster of planned activities helps to bond the pair of Brunswick boys.
Before introducing the boys — and having them shake hands and look each other in the eye — Signer cited Brunswick Trust grade-level quotations to remind all of the important principles for which Brunswick stands:
“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” — Dr. Seuss
“Always be a little kinder than necessary.” — J. M. Barrie
“Mistakes are proof that you are trying.” — Unknown
“Alone, we can do so little. Together, we can do so much.” — Hellen Keller
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” — Desmond Tutu
“Leadership is about taking responsibility, not making excuses.” — Mitt Romney
