Closing Ceremonies Honor Excellence & Growth

Brunswick rounded out the 2016–17 school year with Closing Ceremonies on Tuesday, June 6, honoring students and community members for everything from high scholarship to community service and athletics.

Stephen Duennebier, assistant head of the Upper School who is retiring after 38 years at Brunswick, earned special recognition from Headmaster Thomas W. Philip.

Philip noted that it was a Middle School history class taught by Duennebier that served as his own introduction to Brunswick back in 1989.

“He will be greatly missed,” said Philip, drawing warm applause from the gathering at Dann Gymnasium. “He is inspiring to me still.”

Closing Ceremonies also serve as an opportunity for eighth-grade students to take their place at the Upper School, and for juniors to be named to the senior class.
