Baseball Moves to 4-0

Brunswick improved to 4-0 on the season, besting Fieldston by a 5-1 score in a non-league game in the Bronx on Saturday. The Bruins return to FAA action, hosting King on Tuesday, April 11.

After scratching across a pair of runs in the second inning, the Bruins plated two more in the third inning. Ryan Hanrahan added an RBI double, while James Sassi added a SAC-fly in the third inning to give the visitors a 4-0 lead.
 
Following a Fieldston run in the bottom of the sixth, the Bruins answered with a single run in the top of the seventh inning for the 5-1 final. In the final frame, pinch-hitter Pat Ryan knocked in the Bruins’ fifth run on a bases-loaded infield put-out.
 
Brunswick collected 10 hits, including four doubles, as three Bruins had multi-hit days at the plate. Trystan Sarcone, J.D. Sparks, and Jake Hyde each collected a single and a double, as Hyde also had an RBI. Hanrahan picked up the fourth two-bagger for the Bruins.
 
Starter Mike Beninati (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings for the Bruins, striking out one, while allowing two hits.
 
Two relievers closed out the game for Brunswick. Nick Mosher pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing one run while striking out one batter, while lefty Liam Benjamin pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to finish the game.
