Wrestlers Wrap-Up Season at Nationals

Five Bruins competed at the 82nd National Preps Wrestling Championships on Friday at Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Brooks and Andrew Hennessy, along with Aiden Reynolds, Alex Tucker, and Lachlan Rosato, represented Brunswick, as a total of 119 teams took part in the tournament.

In the double-elimination format, each of the five Bruins picked up an opening-round setback, but continued in the ultra-competitive tournament in the consolation bracket.

Brooks Hennessy, a three-time qualifier at this event, had the longest run for Brunswick, earning a 2-2 mark at the 132-pound weight class. The tri-captain picked up a win by pinfall in his second match of the day, followed by a 5-3 win, before bowing out of the tournament in the round-of-eight of the consolation bracket.

Both Reynolds (182 lbs.) and Tucker (160 lbs.) went 1-2 in the tournament. Reynolds picked up a 5-3 win in overtime, earning a two-point takedown in the extra session of his first consolation match. Tucker collected an 8-5 win in his second match of the day for his first tournament victory.

Three-time participant Andrew Hennessy (126 lbs.) and two-time Prep National combatant Rosato (220 lbs.) also competed for Brunswick, but did not pick up a win in this year’s tournament.
