Second-seeded Brunswick 'A' (11-0) topped Nobles & Greenough by a 4-3 score in the quarterfinal round of the HEAD U.S. High School Team Championships on Saturday, hosted by Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn. With the win, the Bruins advance to play familiar foe Avon Old Farms in the semifinals later in the evening on Saturday.
The reigning two-time national champions battled through a challenging quarterfinal, as the Bruins top three players were defeated, including Patrick Feeley at #3, who retired in the first set due to an injury.
The overall contest was evenly played as the two teams exchanged three wins apiece over the first six matches, as Brunswick won at #7, #5, and #6, while Nobles earned team points for victories at the top three rungs on the ladder.
The seventh and deciding match, played by the #4 seeds, determined which school would advance to the semifinals.
In the key match at #4, Brunswick’s Will Holey battled Nobles’ Cole Koeppel, as Holey won in straight sets (10, 7, 7) to send the Bruins on to the semifinals.

The Brunswick 'B' team advanced to the semifinals of the Division II tournament, besting Darien 6-1, while the Brunswick 'C' team will play in the semifinals of the consolation round in the Division III tourney.
