Stand For Alzheimer's: Bruins Align in the Fight

Five Brunswick students — seniors Wills Danielsen, Chris Gendell, Alex Gibbons, and Johnny Rose, and sophomore Austin Sammons — have taken to the frontlines in the fight against Alzheimer’s, representing ’Wick in the Fairfield County Alzheimer’s Youth Alliance.

The organization’s mission is to raise awareness about the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter through teen-sponsored events and community outreach.

For Danielsen, it’s a cause near and dear to his heart.

I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer's in 2013. He was a smart man who was very close to me and watching his mind slowly deteriorate was really hard for me and my family,” he said.

“I joined this organization with the hope of raising money to find a cure so that no one else loses a loved one to this illness.”

The Alzheimer's Youth Alliance will host its inaugural Stand for Alzheimer's Teen Charity Event on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Old Greenwich Civic Center in Greenwich — an event featuring dancing, music, and refreshments.
