With the victory, the Bruins finished the season 14–0 against FAA competition and 18–2 overall — capturing the FAA regular season and tournament titles for the first time in School history.
Junior left-hander Ryan Popp pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out six, to earn the victory on the mound, while senior Will O’Brien and junior Trevor Johnson came on in relief to preserve the shutout.
The Bruin bats did their all their damage in the fourth inning, as the Sabato brothers, Aaron ’18 and Teddy ’16, both had RBI singles to give the home team the lead.
Head Coach Johnny Montanez showed off his ever-present smile following the championship win.
"It's just so special," Montanez said. "The kids worked so hard for each other and the school. They met every expectation — what a fantastic group."
