Brunswick sent five wrestlers — Andrew Hennessy ’17, Brooks Hennessy ’17, Jon Errico ’16, Lucas Bell ’16, and Joe Fervil ’16 — to this year's National Prep Wrestling Tournament held at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
Junior Jon Errico took second place at 138 lb. and was the highest-placing wrestler from the New England region, earning Prep All-American status in the process.
Errico's finish is the best ever by a Brunswick wrestler at Nationals. He beat two former Prep All-Americans en route to the finals, where he fell to Matthew Kolodzik of Blair Academy (N.J.), who is now a three-time National Prep Champion and the second-ranked wrestler in the country at 138 lb.
Also of note, junior Joe Fervil won three matches at the tournament, though he ultimately fell short of achieving Prep All-American status.
