Clayton Adams, a Brunswick senior, has been named an Eagle Scout, the highest advancement rank in the Boy Scouts of America program.
In 2013, only seven percent of all Boy Scouts obtained the supreme distinction.
Adams earned 21 merit badges and completed all requirements as he progressed through the ranks of the program: Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life.
As a Life Scout, Adams was tasked with planning, developing, and giving leadership to a service project for any religious organization, school, or community.
In a monumental effort that took 423 hours to complete, Adams worked to renew and refurbish the All Purpose Room for Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester, N.Y.
“The road to become an Eagle Scout was not easy, as there were many obstacles to overcome along the way,” Adams said. “Luckily, with the support of my family, my fellow scouts, and my unit leaders, I was able to complete the necessary tasks to do it.”
