'Wick Wins FAA Baseball Title

The Bruins capped off their baseball season by taking home the FAA championship on Thursday, outslugging top-seeded Hamden Hall, 10-8, in the finale.

Brunswick head coach Johnny Montanez finishes his 13 years at the helm with the Bruins with five titles.

The Bruins jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Hornets stormed back in the bottom of the frame to tie the score.

Hamden Hall went up by a run in the second, but in the top of the fourth, Brunswick plated three runs to take a 9-7 lead. After the Hornets plated a run in the bottom of the fifth, the Bruins added another in the sixth.

Hamden Hall loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one out. Boston Flannery, who entered the game in the first, got out of the jam and got the final two outs without giving up a run to clinch the win.

Brunswick was paced offensively by junior Michael Yeager, who had three hits. Junior Alex Giannuzzi had two hits and drove in three runs. Junior Reed Hyde also had a pair of hits and two RBI. Sophomore Jackson Shepelsky also drove in two runs on two hits.

Flannery earned the victory on the mound, striking out nine.
