'Wick Caps Season with Record-Breaking Tournament Score
The golf team put a bow on its 36-1 season by breaking the Western New England Prep Golf Invitational tournament record with a five-score aggregate of 367 for an individual 73.4 average at the par 72 Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, besting its nearest competitor in the 16-team event by 13 strokes.
Paced by Will Harned's scorching 69, Jack Chung's impressive 71, Rocket Servick's steady 73, and tri-captain Sam O'Hara's grinding 74, the 'Wick quartet posted four of the low eight scores in the 94-player field at a collective one-under-par.
Followed by Fritz Smith's 80 and Matteo Santulin's 81, the squad compiled 20 birdies on the stunning, picturesque top-five in CT ranked Tom Fazio design, closing its season in style by once again demonstrating not only its ball-striking, course management, and competitive talent, but also its signature depth.
While 'Wick says goodbye to arguably its most significant senior class in memory in tri-captains Harry Bonomo, Henry Devaney, and Sam O'Hara, along with mainstay contributors Christian Close, Matteo Santulin, Fritz Smith, and Andrew Stickel, it also looks forward to junior standout Will Harned, superb freshman Jack Chung, breakthrough sophomore Rocket Servick, veteran junior James O'Connor, and freshman up-and-comer Henry Graham to pick up the reins and carry on, for in 'Wick golf, tradition never graduates.
