With each of its six players earning all-league honors compiling a 73.6 stroke average in a statement-making FAA Championship Tournament performance, the golf team was 19 strokes better than its nearest competitor in claiming the 2023 FAA crown at New Haven Country Club Monday.
Spearheaded by their three D-1 commits, the Bruin lineup was relentless, paced by Virginia-bound Sam O'Hara's one-over-par 71 on the historic 1898 Willie Park, Jr. layout. Following right behind the senior tri-captain was future Wisconsin Badger junior Will Harned's 72, with Yale's Andrew Stickel's 73 rounding out the top three scorers.
'Wick's standout underclassmen freshman Jack Chung and sophomore Rocket Servick continued their impressive play, carding twin 76s, with senior Matteo Santulin capping the Bruin scorecard with 78 on the challenging, slick greens of the sunny, gusty 125-year-old New Haven track.
Remarkably, all six 'Wick players garnered All League honors, with O'Hara, Harned, and Stickel earning First Team accolades, Chung and Servick being named to the Second Team, and Santulin notching an Honorable Mention nod.
The 21-1 Bruins finish their '23 campaign on Wednesday in the 15-team field competing in the Western New England Prep Golf Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent.
