'Wick tennis fell to Hoosac School, 4-2, in a tough away loss on Wednesday.
The Hoosac team was looking strong, comprising of players from Brazil, Guatemala, and Italy, and their top five are all seniors.
With one player sitting out for Brunswick, it gave freshman Sebastien Moullé-Berteaux an opportunity to step into the singles lineup.
After losing the doubles point, Brunswick found itself in familiar territory once again going into the singles on the back foot.
Tucker Maclean lost in straight sets at #4, but Will Monahan pulled one back for Brunswick at #1. In a crucial match at #3, Santos Gunningham was down a set and two match points, but then saved them to push the second set to a tiebreaker. After winning the tiebreaker 7-3, he then went into the third set super breaker. Unfortunately, despite taking an early 3-0 lead, he would lose 10-5.
Hoosac needed just one more win at either #2, #5, or #6.
Caleb Zimmerman won a close nail-biter 11-9 in the third after splitting sets to put Brunswick at 2-3 in matches. However, both Sieg and Moullé-Berteaux were down a set. Moullé-Berteaux was up 4-3 in the second, while Sieg was fighting back from 2-5 down but was stopped short and lost the second set 4-6.
