Brunswick baseball (8-2, 2-1), ranked No. 9 in New England Baseball Journal’s Top-10, came out swinging on Wednesday afternoon and defeated Poly Prep by a score of 6-2 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The offense worked a very good opposing pitcher, committed to LSU, to favorable counts and produced big hits in the clutch. Michael Yeager, Reed Hyde, Player Crosby, Jerry Guzman, and Boston Flannery had the hits, while Flannery and Crosby accounted for five of the six RBIs.
Flannery started the game and pitched a gem, striking out eight and allowing only two hits to a very pesky Poly Prep line-up. Guzman came in and closed the seventh inning to record the save.
The Bruins will stay on the road and play at St. Luke's on Friday afternoon.
