Seniors Named U.S. Presidential Scholarship Candidates

Seniors Parakram Karnik, Kai Le, Vilas Sogaard-Srikrishnan, and Benjamin Yorke have been selected as candidates for the United States Presidential Scholars Program as announced this week by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the United States Department of Education.

Students are chosen for outstanding performance on the ACT Assessment or the College Board SAT; and/or nomination by the Chief State School Officer or one of the Program’s partner recognition organizations, including for Career and Technical Education or in the Arts.

The Scholars program was established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President with subsequent amendments. It recognizes the accomplishments of some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating seniors.

Up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars are chosen annually and honored for their accomplishments each June.

“In addition to their consistent excellence in the classroom, these boys each contribute bedrock character and citizenship to our community on a daily basis,” said Doug Burdett, assistant head of school and director of college placement.

“Brunswick is so proud of them.”
