'Wick Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Five Brunswick student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) on Wednesday, November 10.

Henry Caponiti, a Georgetown signee, is one of three lacrosse captains for head coach David Bruce as the team looks toward the 2022 season.

“His strengths stem from his size and stick skills, and he is not afraid to initiate contact on a dodge, making him a tough match-up for any defender,” Bruce said.

Caponiti’s athleticism and leadership are also highlighted on the basketball court, where he will be a captain this winter.

Will O'Connor, headed for Michigan, is an impact midfielder who disrupts offenses on the defensive end and is a key component of the transition offense for the Bruin LAXmen.

“His work ethic and competitive drive make it hard to keep him off of the field,” Bruce said.

O'Connor also makes an impact on the football field for the varsity team as a defensive back.

Adonys Guzman, the Boston College-bound MLB prospect, arrived at Brunswick as a sophomore and has continued to hone his craft as one of the top high-school catchers in the country. Head coach Johnny Montanez calls him a “defensive wizard” and a “master of the strike zone.”

“While a superior catcher, his gifts go well beyond the defensive side of the game, as he is also a talented offensive player,” Montanez said. “Adonys’s greatest attributes are his work ethic and his baseball I.Q. Boston College has struck gold with this great student of the game.”

Lucas Hodgson has earned plenty of accolades as a freestyle swimmer in and out of Mehra Natatorium. The future Michigan Wolverine is a three-time New England champion, three-time New England record holder, national record holder, and 12-time All-American for head coach Aaron Montgomery.

Evan Lee has been a member of the varsity tennis program since he was in eighth grade, winning the FAA tournament as a freshman and also helping the Bruins secure the New England Championship that same year as the No. 3 player. Lee, who has also enjoyed success on the national and international stages, is expected to be the No. 1 player and a senior leader for the Bruins this spring.

“Evan has shown incredible talent and dedication when he has represented Brunswick on the tennis courts, and he will be a great asset for Notre Dame as he prepares for his college tennis journey,” head coach Ryan Abraham said.

All student-athletes signed their NLIs in the Altman Room on Wednesday morning.
