Six Middle School students — Owen Day, Henry Graham, Michael Liguori, Shep McGovern, Will Newman, and Peter Saunders — have qualified for the Connecticut All-State Chorus, as selected after virtual auditions by the Connecticut Music Educators' Association (CMEA).
Recognized students will participate in a “masterclass workshop” as part of a virtual musical festival, taking place later this spring.
“Being accepted to an All-State ensemble is a great honor,” Middle School music and theater teacher Brittney Redler said. “It shows stellar current ability as well as future potential — not to mention the great effort it took to rehearse, prepare, polish, and record the auditions in a short amount of time!"
The Connecticut Music Educators Association provides programs and activities for professional educators, students, and future music educators striving to enhance the quality of music education for all children.
CMEA celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2012, making it one of the oldest state music educators associations in the nation. With more than 1,000 active members today, CMEA has grown to be the principal organization in Connecticut representing every level of music education, in every discipline, and continues to fulfill its commitment to music education in the state.
