Andrew Tu ’24 earned a Silver Key Award in the 2021 Connecticut Scholastic Art Awards Program — honored in a virtual celebration on Friday, February 26.
Since 1923, the Awards have recognized some of America's most celebrated artists and writers while they were teenagers, including Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay Walking Stick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol.
“It was June last year. Sad stories of coronavirus were all over the news,” Tu said when describing his submission. “Schools were closed; there were many uncertainties; people were struggling.
“But at the same time, I would also hear of humans fighting back the attack. In this piece, I wanted to capture not only the detriment of coronavirus, but also the strength and resilience of human spirit.”
