Brunswick’s advanced debate team — including Tomas Jasson ’23, Magnus O'Reilly ’23, Josh Paul ’21, and Lucas Pombo ’22 — earned third place in the Debate Association of New England Independent Schools (DANEIS) virtual competition on Sunday, February 28.
The debate, hosted by Hopkins School, was geared toward Parliamentary Extemporaneous Debate — stressing rigorous argumentation, logical analysis, quick thinking, breadth of knowledge, and rhetorical ability over preparation of evidence.
Comprised of independent high schools in New England, DANEIS provides opportunities for public speakers and debaters to compete both regionally and internationally.
Founded in 1978, DANEIS now includes 30 member and affiliated schools — including Brunswick, Hotchkiss, St. Paul's, Choate, and Andover.
