E-Magazine Crowned with Scholastic Press Award

Brunswick's multilingual literary and art e-magazine, Babel, has been awarded the 2020 Crown Award by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

CSPA is an international student-press association, founded in 1925, whose goal is to unite student journalists and faculty advisers at schools and colleges through educational conferences, idea exchanges, textbooks, critiques, and award programs.

Crown Awards are the highest recognition given by CSPA to a student print or digital medium for overall excellence.

Julian Trahanas ’21 and Ali Hindy ’21 served as co-editors-in-chief of Babel.

“Language is a gateway that, when unlocked, connects one to an entire culture or civilization of people, full of distinct food, music, and customs,” Hindy said.

Babel’s objective is to provide the keys to the gateway in order to break down language barriers in an attempt to diversify our perspectives on the world we live in.

Babel uses visual art, music, and literature in order to achieve this goal, and this year’s edition represents the continuing efforts of Brunswick School and Greenwich Academy students to enrich our community’s view of human civilization through these particular means.”
