William Kallman won both the slalom and giant slalom individual titles at Waterville Valley Ski Resort on Wednesday, as Brunswick finished third overall at the 2020 NEPSAC Class B Alpine Ski Championships.
Kallman’s two runs in the slalom were the fastest two slalom runs of the day, as the sophomore finished 1.91 seconds ahead of the field. Similarly, Kallman blazed to the fastest two times in the giant slalom, 2.29 seconds faster than all other racers. Kallman is Brunswick’s first-ever NEPSAC individual champion in the five-year history of the ski program.
The scoring format for the championship is based on the finish of the top three racers for each school in both the slalom and giant slalom. Using an aggregate scoring method, the team with the lowest combined score over the two events is crowned the champion.
Completing the team scoring for Brunswick in the slalom, was a 14th-place result by Cameron Shipman and a 33rd-place result by Evan Daigle. Adding Kallman’s first-place finish, the Bruins finished with 48 combined points.
In the giant slalom, Brunswick finished with a second-best score of 25 points, as three Bruins finished in the top 15. Along with Kallman’s first-place result, Shipman finished 11th and Eliot Hynes was 13th.
Overall, Brunswick finished with 73 combined points, trailing champion Pingree (37) and and second-place Kents Hill (66).
