Soccer Loses Home-Opener

Loomis Chaffee broke a 1-1 first-half tie with a go-ahead against Brunswick, as the visiting Pelicans added three goals in the second half for a decisive 5-1 victory on Cosby Field on Wednesday. The loss drops the Bruins’ overall record to 0-2-1, as Loomis stays unbeaten at 2-0-1.  
 
The Pelicans opened the scoring at the 18th minute the first half, finishing a cross with a low scoring shot for a 1-0 lead.
 
The Bruins countered three minutes later with an equalizing goal, as Andres Jasson received a pass from Ryan Chinai around 25 yards out. Jasson worked left and quickly countered to the right and blasted a long shot past the Pelican goalie.
 
In the 32nd minute, Loomis responded with a go-ahead goal on a penalty kick tally, as the Pelicans took a 2-1 lead into the break.
 
Loomis added an insurance goal two minutes into the second half and tacked on two more goals later in the game for the 5-1 win.
 
The Bruins return to action on Saturday, September 21, as Brunswick takes on Deerfield at the Farmington Sports Arena.
