Water Polo Wins Pair to Start the Season

Brunswick picked up a pair of NEPSAC road wins to start the 2019 season.The Bruins (2-0) travelled to Exeter on Saturday, blanking the hosts, 16-0, and besting Andover by a 19-4 margin. Brunswick returns to action with another NEPSAC double-header at Deerfield on Saturday, September 14.

 

Dating back to 2014, the Bruins have won five-straight NEPSAC Championships in water polo.

 

In the opener against Exeter, the Bruins jumped out to a 5-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in the 16-0 win. Eight different players notched goals for Brunswick, as Patrick Mullen and Gavin Molloy each posted hat tricks. Hayden Collins made six saves in goal in the first half, while Ryan Miele posted four stops in the second half for the Bruins.

In the nightcap against Andover, the Bruins built a commanding 14-0 lead by intermission. Andover got on the board in the second half with three third-quarter tallies, but was outscored in the frame by a 5-3 margin. Andover netted the final goal of the contest with a solo fourth-quarter goal, as the Bruins swam away with the 19-4 win.

 

Molloy led the Bruins with four goals, all in the first half, as JP Ohl posted a hat-trick with three first-quarter markers. Miele made six saves in the second quarter, while Collins collected seven saves across the remaining three quarters of action.
