Seniors Named National Merit Finalists

Four Brunswick seniors — William Frauen, Christian Hartch, Ben Israel, and Cole Pierce — were announced as finalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.

High school juniors are automatically entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). To become a finalist, semifinalists must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, receive an endorsement/recommendation from their high school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm their previous test performances.

Semifinalists must also submit an essay and detailed application, which demonstrate their participation and leadership in their schools and communities.

“William, Christian, Ben, and Cole are so deserving of this national recognition,” Headmaster Thomas W. Philip said. “All are outstanding scholars, of course, but they are also distinguished leaders in other facets of school life.”

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will begin announcing scholarship winners in April.
