SPORTS CAMP

***NEW SHUTTLE SERVICE TO KING STREET FOR SUMMER SPORTS CAMPERS***

The Brunswick Sports Camp, now in its 74th, year will continue to develop and improve athletic skills of children ages 5 – 14. This camp is designed for the travel athlete as well as the first timer; we will meet your campers’ needs. Our awesome curriculum gives campers core and recreational sports. With over 10 hours of athletic instruction, designed and implemented by varsity coaches, and 15 hours of participation in games, your camper will have the greatest summer ever.

Daily Swim Instruction will take place in the Brunswick Natatorium!

Additionally, each camper will have a chance to win fun, daily competitions in baseball, squash (taught by Varsity Squash Coach Ryan Abraham), basketball, football, tennis, or lacrosse, and campers will have opportunities to participate in games like badminton, speedball, handball, flag football, four-square and so much more. Your camper will get all of this while learning the importance of good sportsmanship and the fundamentals of each sport. Brunswick School’s facilities boast 600 yards of playing fields, nine swimming lanes with an adjustable-depth platform, two hitting tunnels, a bullpen and dugouts, and plenty of indoor space for use during rainy days or exceptionally hot weather.

DAY CAMP

WELCOME TO CAMP BEARLOCK!
Brunswick School’s Day Camp is designed to provide fun and engaging activities for boys and girls 6-10 years old. This two-week full-day program will feature swimming, athletics, STEM, artistic expression, and daily Camp Adventures.  

Swimming: All campers will receive daily swim time in the Brunswick Natatorium!

Artistic Expression will include traditional camp art as well as dramatic play designed to instill confidence and the “willingness to try.”

Athletics and Movement will focus on exposing your camper to a variety of basic athletic skills through a physical education lens.

Camp Adventures will include various activities such as karaoke, science and nature expeditions, camp-fire stories, orienteering, scavenger hunts, and team-building exercises.

Our STEM component exposes campers to activities in which they build, create,  and problem-solve using a variety of engineering tools and media.

Enrollment: Birthdays and completed academic grades will be taken into consideration.

BRUINS LACROSSE CAMP

With the help of our accomplished coaching staff, it is our goal to teach your sons the skills and strategies needed to play lacrosse at a higher level.

Each session is run Monday - Thursday at Edwards Campus (King Street).
  • D1 is open to boys (from any school) going into grades 7 -8.
  • D2 is open to boys (from any school) going into grades 5 - 6.
  • D3 is open to boys (from any school) going into grades 3 - 4.
  • D4 is open to boys (from any school) going into grades 1 - 2.

Lacrosse Camp Details

SQUASH CAMP

Varsity coach, Ryan Abraham, will be running the Brunswick Squash Camps again after having great success with the 2016 summer camps. Ryan is a former #2 player from Trinidad & Tobago, a Harvard squash alum, and a Level 3 certified coach in the U.S.

Prior to coaching and teaching at Brunswick, Ryan has coached Trinidad National teams to Caribbean Championship titles, as well as worked with junior programs as a squash pro at the Field Club of Greenwich. With a Masters in Sport Psychology, he tries to implement a balance between the physical and mental aspects of the game.

At the Brunswick Squash Camps, Ryan, along with his team of assistant coaches, will focus on a broad range of skills necessary to improve one’s game such as: racquet skills, shot selection, constructing a point, strength and fitness, match play, the mental game, style of play, and of course maintaining a level of fun and enjoyment!

Two levels of Squash Camp:
Beginner / Intermediate
This is tailored towards kids who may have a little squash experience but are keen to learn the aspects of the game that will help them to improve.

This camp will focus on things such as:
  • Ball control and Hand-eye coordination
  • Grip and swing enhancement
  • Movement and footwork
  • Importance of the T and how to control it
  • Tactical play and basic strategy
  • Learning how to score and referee correctly
  • Match Play

Squash Camp Beginner/Intermediate Details

This session will be aimed towards top-ranked tournament players, high school varsity players, or kids who are aiming to make their school varsity teams in the near future. 

Some of the areas of focus in these sessions will be:

Middle School Rowing Camp
Three one-week sessions: June 12th-16th, June 19th-23rd, June 26th-30th

"Introduction to Rowing" curriculum including flexibility / mobility, injury prevention, nutrition basics, and team building exercises / games. ‘BRUINS ROWING’ Headsweats hat included.

High Performance Rowing Camp
Five-day, intensive clinic covering a variety of rowing and sculling topics: June 7-11 only (Open only to Upper School rowers & coxswains with rowing experience)

Elite guest coaches will instruct on topics including biomechanics, the physics of rowing, sculling and sweep rowing technique, high-performance training, nutrition, sports psychology, and the collegiate rowing experience.

KINDER KAMP

Kinder Kamp is designed to provide a fun, educational experience for boys enrolled in Brunswick School who are entering Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. Emphasis will be placed on phonics skills, math building, and fine motor practice through art, science, music and direct instruction. In addition to our adventures in learning, time will be devoted to outdoor exploration and play. All campers will participate in the following:
  • ABCs and 123s
    Explore letters and numbers through songs, stories and games. The program is designed to enhance your son’s rhyming, phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and phonics skills. Focus will also be placed on number identification, counting skills and simple graphing.
  • Super Science
    Each day, boys will participate in hands-on activities as they learn about the scientific method. We look forward to our exciting “in-house” field trips.
  • Marvelous Music
    Each day, the boys will have an opportunity to sing, experiment with playing different instruments and dance.
  • Amazing Art
    Explore your creative side! Each boy will sharpen his fine motor skills as he draws, paints and creates masterpieces through the use of different mediums.
  • Gym Games and Outdoor Adventures
    Run, jump and climb all over the Brunswick playground. Gym games will revolve around our daily themes.

BRIDGE CAMP

Does your son have First Grade jitters, or can he hardly wait to join the big boys at the King Street Campus? If so, this is the camp for you. BRIDGE Summer Camp will allow your son the opportunity to get a taste of the Specials he will be a part of in First Grade, including art, music, library, and of course gym. Students will also have a chance to participate in learning activities in the areas of Magical Math, Fantastic Phonics, and Exciting Expression. In addition, the boys will enjoy getting familiar with our amazing Lower School playground. Have your son join us on a fun-filled adventure and cross the BRIDGE into First Grade.

Promoting an active, fun and healthy start of the summer, The Physical Education Sports Camp will be geared for the rising 2nd & 3rd grade boys replicating P.E. “Game Days” of the Lower School. The camp is filled with ALL the fun activities & games we play on a daily basis. The camp will primarily take place within the Lower School Gym, the Burke Field House, and the Turf field.

THEATER CAMP

Does your son long to be in the spotlight? Does he love to sing, act, and dance? Maybe he even has the calling to work behind the scenes, running the show. If so, Theater Camp is the place for him. This summer we will once again immerse the boys in all aspects of putting on a musical production. From behind the scenes lighting and set design, to costumes and choreography, Theatre Camp promises to be a fun and entertaining ride for all. Improvisation games and activities will tap into each boy’s natural humor, creativity, and joy. Every student will have a part to play in a musical show that will culminate in a performance for friends and family on the last day of camp. Boys will create and produce their own “Playbills,” write their own actor bios, and welcome their audience. Move over Broadway, King Street is where the “acting” is!

WRESTLING CLINIC WITH MR. O

THIS CAMP IS DESIGNED to bring the energy out of your beloved bruiser! The goal of Wrestling Camp is to teach your son the skills and strategies needed to wrestle. Integral parts of learning to wrestle include emphasis on developing sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence in every participant. Campers will learn conviction and self-control, while developing wrestling skills. Individual-skill work will be emphasized, along with techniques including takedowns, pinning, breakdowns, riding, and bottom moves. There will be ample opportunity for campers to participate in matches, games, and much more! Each session will be held at the Burke Field House on the Edwards Campus on King St.
