Hockey Holds Off Hill
Brunswick topped visiting Hill by a 4-3 score on Monday in Hartong Rink. The game, rescheduled from Saturday, saw the Bruins twice hold two-goal leads in the third period over the Blues.
Hill opened the scoring with the lone tally in the first period, as the Bruins netted a pair of second period tallies to take a 2-1 lead.
Brunswick’s Ryan St. Louis (8th goal) scored the equalizer just 11 seconds into the second stanza. Charles Shaffer potted the go-ahead tally off of a nice helper from Henry Foster. Shaffer’s goal was his team-leading 13th marker on the season.
Foster notched his fifth goal of the year to start the third period, giving the hosts a 3-1 lead with 6:15 left to play.
Hill countered with a power-play goal to make it a 3-2 game with 3:51 remaining.
The Blues pulled their goalie for an extra skater in the final two minutes, but Brunswick’s Connor Sullivan scored his first career goal on an empty net to boost the lead back to two goals at 4-2 with 1:30 on the clock.
Hill made it interesting with a final tally with three seconds left to play for the 4-3 final.
Brunswick travels to Delbarton to play a non-league game on Tuesday, January 22.
