Brunswick dropped a 64-52 decision to FAA foe St. Luke’s on Friday night in Dann Gym. The loss drops the Bruins to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in league play, while The Storm improves to 5-0 in FAA action and 7-5 on the season.
Early on in the first half there were six lead changes before St. Luke’s took the lead for good at 14-12 with 8:25 remaining on a goaltending call by the Bruins. Leading 27-25 at the 1:53 mark, The Storm closed out the half with an 8-1 run, taking a 35-26 advantage into the break.
In the second half, St. Luke’s extended its lead to 39-26 with a pair of quick buckets. The Storm held a 45-32 lead at 12:24, before the Bruins countered with a 9-4 run over the next 2:49 of action. A Khari Wilson jumper capped the run, as Brunswick trailed 47-41 with 9:35 left.
Six points was as close as the hosts would get, as St. Luke’s built a double-digit lead at the 5:19 mark and cruised to the 64-52 finish.
Chisom Okpara led the Bruins with 17 points, while Wilson finished with 15 points and Ryan Mulshine chipped in eight points, including two three-pointers.
Brunswick returns to action in a non-league game at Storm King on Friday, January 18.
