Hockey Ties Hotchkiss

 
Brunswick skated to a 2-2 tie against Hotchkiss on Monday night at Hartong Rink. The Bruins have played six overtime contests and own a 1-1-4 mark in extra-session games. Brunswick returns to action at Millbrook on Wednesday, January 9.
 
Brunswick’s Charles Shaffer opened the scoring in the first period with an even-strength tally just 2:22 in to the game. Shaffer’s goal was the lone score in the opening frame.
 
In the second period the Bearcats’ Alex Mozian flipped the script with two quick goals, as the visitors owned a 2-1 lead with just 2:57 burned off the second period clock.
 
At the midway point of the second period, Shaffer notched his second goal of the game, and ninth of the season on a power-play tally at 9:17. Shaffer’s goal boosts his team-leading points total to 22 (9 G, 13 A).
 
At the end of a scoreless third period, the Bruins owned another man-advantage following a Hotchkiss penalty. Despite not scoring in the waning seconds of the third, Brunswick had the extra skater for 1:16 to start the five-minute overtime session.
 
In overtime, the Bruins could not convert on the power-play as the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
