Hockey Picks Up Overtime Win

With 3:03 left in overtime against Pope Francis, Brunswick’s Ryan St. Louis finished off a pass from Charles Shaffer for the game-winner, as the Bruins topped the Cardinals in Hartong Rink on Wednesday, 3-2.

In the non-NEPSIHA contest against the Western Massachusetts squad, the Bruins jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period. Shaffer netted the first goal of the game, and fourth of the season at 7:54. Henry Foster made it a 2-0 contest with under a minute to play in the frame, lighting the lamp for Brunswick.

After a scoreless second period, the Cardinals rallied with two goals in the third stanza. A short-handed goal at 7:17 was followed by an even-strength tally by Pope Francis at 14:28, tying the game at 2-2.

In the extra-session, Shaffer set-up the nifty St. Louis game-ender with a with a backhand pass from behind the net to the stick of St. Louis for the one-timer.

The Bruins take some time off before heading to Buffalo to play in the Nichols-Belmont Hill Holiday Hockey Tournament, starting on December 28.
