Twelfth-ranked Brunswick lost a 1-0 decision on the road at eighth-ranked Worcester Academy on Saturday. The Bruins (7-5-3) return to action at Hotchkiss on Wednesday, November 7.
The lone goal came in the 18th minute following a Worcester corner kick. On the scoring play, the ball was played into the 6 of Brunswick, bounced around several times, and was eventually deposited in the Bruins’ net.
Brunswick did earn some quality scoring chances in the second half to tie the game. In the 68th minute, John Dunn’s blast from 20 yards out was stopped by the Worcester keeper. In the waning minutes of play, the Bruins attempted a pair of free kicks from 25 yards out, but the visitors were unable to convert on either attempt.
Eric Meindl made six saves for the Bruins in goal, including some noteworthy stops in the second half.
