Soccer Win Streak Hits Six

Brunswick picked up a convincing 3-0 win over visiting Salisbury on Wednesday on Caputo Field. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Bruins, as the squad has also posted five-straight shut-out wins during the win streak.

Brunswick scored quickly to take a 1-0 lead, as Chisom Okpara finished off a nice pass from Aaryan Chinai.

The Bruins averted allowing a tying goal later in the opening half, as Salisbury sent a corner kick on goal that was turned away by defender Jeffrey Ramirez. On the play, a Salisbury player headed the ball toward the Brunswick net, but Ramirez, standing on the goal line, headed the ball away.

Brunswick added two insurance goals on penalty kicks in the second half, as Chinai netted both tallies.

In the 61st minute, Chinai was taken down on his way to the goal and drew the penalty. Seven minutes later, the sophomore knocked home his second PK tally following a foul on AJ Delgado. Ahead of the penalty kick, Delgado won a ball in Salisbury territory and worked through a trio of defenders before the visitors were whistled for a penalty for a tackle from behind.

Eric Meindl picked up the win in goal, making five saves.

The Bruins return to action on Saturday, October 20, with a home game against regional power South Kent (8-0-3).
