Soccer Shuts Out Cheshire

Brunswick broke a scoreless tie against Cheshire Academy with a second half goal and held on to win the road game on Wednesday, 1-0. The win bumps the Bruins overall record to 2-3-2 heading into a Saturday road game at Kent.

Brunswick netted the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute, as Arryan Chinai played a corner kick that Harry Barringer directed through the six-yard box to the foot of Aidan Williams. Williams finished the play with a blast into the back of the Cheshire net for the 1-0 lead.

Cheshire had a few chances in the closing minutes to tie the game but the Bruins’ defense, including goalie Eric Meindl and centerbacks Ben Powers and Jack Withstandley, turned away each attack down the stretch.

Meindl finished with five saves, as the Bruins were outshot 10-7 on the day.
