Following an excellent 16-1 campaign, including a share of the New England West 1 (NEW1) title and another top-10 finish nationally, several Bruins earned post-season acclaim. Five players and one coach were recognized by the conference, while four earned recognition from US Lacrosse.
Goalie Patrick Burkinshaw (120 saves), attackman Xander Dickson (40 G, 43 A), midfielder Jack Ocken (16 G, 2 A, 44 GB) and defenseman Wilson Stephenson (45 GB) join midfielder Cooper Moore (26 G, 8 A, 27 GB) on the all-league team, while veteran coach Brendan Gilsenan earned the league’s assistant coach of the year award.
Senior Chris Burdick garnered High School All-Academic recognition by US Lacrosse, while Stephenson and Burkinshaw were tabbed as All-Americans by US Lacrosse. Stephenson picked up the Nels Corey Award for the best defenseman in the conference, while Burkinshaw was recognized as the top goalie in NEW1.
Ocken also was the league’s recipient for the Bob Scott Award from US Lacrosse. The award recognizes a player who goes above and beyond in service to his team, school and community.
US Lacrosse ranked Brunswick fifth in its final national poll of the season.
Brunswick finished the year ranked sixth nationally in the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse poll. During the season, the Bruins were ranked as high as second by UA/IL and topped third-ranked Hill Academy (Ontario) during the season.
